Evelyn A. Tiefel 90, left this life to be with her husband at 6:26 PM on Monday, July 1, 2019 at Mercy One Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 AM Friday, July 5, 2019, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Holy Spirit Parish where friends may call from 9 AM until 10:45 AM. Father Dwayne Thoman will be presiding. Interment will be in Linwood Cemetery. Hoffmann-Schneider & Kitchen Funeral and Cremation Service, 3860 Asbury Road is entrusted with the arrangements.
Evelyn was born December 10, 1928 to Roy and Ethel (Eustice) Schroder. She attended St. Patrick’s and Jefferson Schools. On April 17, 1947, she married Dale J. Tiefel at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. He died August 29, 2005.
Evelyn was a homemaker who was devoted to her family. She was a friend to everyone she met. In her younger years, she enjoyed traveling with her family and getting together with her brothers and sisters to play cards. In her later years, she enjoyed going out to lunch with family and friends, and talking about old times. She especially loved her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren, and her many nieces and nephews. She was a very talented self-taught artist. She loved her dog Bear.
She is survived by her son Rocky (Bonnie) Tiefel of Dubuque, IA; her grandchildren, Sean (Cyndi) Tiefel of Aurora, CO, Mark (Michele) Tiefel Of Marion, IA, Rob Winders, of Dubuque, IA, and Jenny (Benji) Meyer, of Dubuque, IA; her great-grandchildren, Kailyn, Lacey, Lauren, Emily, Tyler Tiefel, Kobe, Ashlyn, and Alayna Meyer, and many beloved nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, Violet, Ida May, Pearl, Helen, and Margaret, as well as four brothers, Henry, Richard, Jim and Don.
A memorial has been established for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
The family would like to thank Dr. Salas, Dr. Whalen, and all of the wonderful 3rd floor nursing staff at Mercy One Hospital who took excellent and compassionate care of her, and her special friends, Bobbie and Larry Wolfe.
